Know the ground before you build on it.

Independent ground investigation since 1988: desk studies, boreholes, geotechnical reporting and contamination assessment for developers across the UK.

Four services, in the order a site needs them.

Our team of geotechnical and geo-environmental engineers runs an active training programme and encourages every engineer to work towards becoming a chartered geologist or engineer.

Phase 1

Desk studies

A Stage 1 Tier 1 Desk Study is part of the site investigation process whether or not the site has been developed, and is often a requirement of the local planning authority or warranty provider.

A well-executed desk study shapes the intrusive work that follows, targeting specific areas of contamination or the geotechnical parameters you need, so the investigation stays cost-effective.

Phase 2

Ground investigation

Ground conditions can be one of the greatest hazards to any construction project and are often the cause of large cost and time overruns.

When you commission an investigation you are investing not only in the intrusive works, but in the knowledge and experience of the staff interpreting the data.

Reporting

Geotechnical

We provide a Ground Investigation Report (GIR) as defined in Eurocode 7, outlining the scope and methods used, the constraints, and the field and laboratory test results. Strata are described in accordance with BS5930:2015 or other codes as required.

Contamination

Environmental

Former land contamination can pose significant challenges for development across the UK. We use the findings of the Phase 1 Desk Study to design a tailored Phase 2 intrusive investigation focused on potential sources.

Our expertise extends to advising on remediation and soil reuse strategies.

More than 11,000 investigations. Over 250 inside the City square mile alone.

Our experience in Central London is unparalleled, with over 250 projects completed within the City square mile alone. Nationwide coverage over 38 years has given us considerable geotechnical knowledge of UK soils.
